The Deterioration Spectrum from Good to Bad

Dictators don't start off as dictators; there is a progressive spectrum that takes them from wanting to do good, to the “I know it all mentality”. The spectrum starts off from:

Communicator ⇒ Facilitator ⇒ Leader ⇒ Autocrat ⇒ Dictator ⇒ Tyrant ⇒ Despot

The seven stages above are not inclusive of all possible negative progression. There are other characteristics in between such as domineering, coercive, narcissistic, exploitative, disingenuous, condescending, deceitful, dogmatic and divisive to name just a few.

I have said it before and will say it again, leadership conduct is a choice, and a very personal one for that matter! It always has been and forever will be a personal choice.

In my book, Embracing Leadership, Not Dictatorship, I describe the difference between a leader’s and a dictator’s mindset on various viewpoints from fellowship to their view on people they lead and their operational viewpoint. I describe how both mindsets view successes and failures, their view on transparency and innovation, how they deal with feedback and how they behave during challenging times.

Their viewpoints drive their conduct, which in turn marks their legacy.

I advocate for leadership 100% and provide readers with tools, templates and stories to embark on their personal journeys. I hope my words will empower them to strengthen their leadership skills and continue to learn, reflect and evolve.

If my message resonates with you and you’d like to take a peek at the book, I’d love to hear from you. I’m currently looking for beta readers who are willing to share their insights and feedback on the concepts I explore.
